Page 1 of 6 Linux Fedora Core 4 and VNC This article was written for newbie's like me who need help with VNC on Linux FC4 computers. I've completed a substantial amount of research and found FC4 does it a bit different. Follow these instructions and it will work for you. After installing Fedora Core 4 on my test box I wanted to be able to call a VNC window just like I do on my XP and 2000 computers. Normally from my XP workstation, to my servers, I can open a VNC session just by clicking on the VNC icon and entering the IP address of the server I want to VNC to. Now of course you have to have VNC service running on the servers. All is well or it seemed, until I wanted to do this to my Linux machine. I kept getting an access denied response and the VNC window would close. After much reading and studying, I found installing and running VNC on a LINUX box is not as straight forward as you would think. I am a newbie Linux 'er so for those of you new to Fedora Core 4 I hope this helps. |
